2008 Career Shadow Day
June 18, 2008 was the day that several Cairo High School students ventured into “the real world” of work. Career Shadow, sponsored by the Southwest Georgia Technical College and Georgia Department of Labor, Cairo Career Center, Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee present ed a special opportunity to upcoming Seniors at Cairo High School. 
2008 Veterans Express Bus Golf Tournament
What started out as a rainy day, ended up with blue skys and a successful golf tournament. Thanks to area sponsors and golfers, $5,400 was raised for the Veterans Express Bus. The Veterans Express Bus 10th Annual Golf Tournament was held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Cairo Country Club.

FERST FOUNDATION SPELLING BEE
Although it was the 2nd Annual Spelling Bee for “Ferst Foundation”, it was the First for the Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee Team. With butterflies in our stomachs, Employer Committee Members, Marilyn Dollar, Debra Hancock and Joyce Hancock entered the arena with 11 other teams.
Grady County Moves to Tier 2 County
Rick McCaskill – Executive Director, Cairo/Grady County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. McCaskill shared interesting facts about Cairo and feels overall, Cairo is very healthy, despite what we read and hear in the news.

Marilyn Dollar, Chairperson of Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee, Debra Hancock, EMR with Cairo Career Center and Secretary for Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee and Nola Daughtry, Executive Director, Grady County Children and Youth present program on “How to Interview” and “How to Keep Your Job”
FERST FOUNDATION FOR CHILDHOOD LITERACY
Cairo/Grady Employer Committee have entered the 2nd Annual "Spelling Bee" contest with a sponsorship of $250 to help raise money for this project. Committee Members, Marilyn Dollar, Debra Hancock and Joyce Hancock will compete against other teams in the spelling bee.
