Vickie Henson Highlights Cairo Grady Kickoff

Vickie Henson, Project Coordinator of the Georgia Employer Committee was our guest speaker and explored with members present “the benefits” of being part of an Employer Committee.   One of the main benefits employers have is they have a legislative voice in Washington “at no cost”.  By being a part of the local Employer Committee, employers have access to the Georgia Employer Committee who in turn have representatives in Washington.  Other benefits include getting the latest information on “hot topics” from sources such as labor lawyers, etc. at a nominal fee.  Most of these sources charge large sums for their services, however, many times they will charge a lesser amount to an Employer Committee thus saving the local employer money while at the same time, getting the services of professionals which could ultimately benefit their company in many ways.        Ms. Henson also discussed the Web-site of the Georgia Employer Committee which is a useful tool to local based Employer Committees (www.ga-ec.com).  Ms. Henson also discussed the wonderful projects that Employer Committees do in the communities, i.e., scholarships, coat drives, etc.  It’s all about Employers investing in each other and their community.
