Touch the future

Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee Take it to the Schools…..(Sitting L-R, Debra Hancock, Department of Labor, Cairo Career Center, Michelle Ausley, Cairo High School YAP Director and Marilyn Dollar, Owner, Dollar Business Solutions and Chairperson of the Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee) with students of the Cairo High YAP Program.

The Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee, Georgia Department of Labor collaborates with the Cairo High School Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP) for the purpose of teaching and instilling good work habits in the future workforce.

The Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee invites members to share their businesses with the students of the YAP program and teach students the necessary components necessary for a successful career, especially planning to achieve success.

Youth Apprenticeship enables employers to play an active role in shaping the quality of their future workforce.

Through Youth Apprenticeship, employers are able to, increase skill levels of potential workers, work with educators to develop curriculum based on industry standards, recruit and screen potential employees, reduce turnover of entry-level employees through the hiring of Youth Apprenticeship graduates and improve competitiveness in the international marketplace.

YAP provides paid work experience, promoted partnership between education and industry, integrates academic and technical instruction and provides post-secondary options.

YAP offers students school-based learning opportunities that are related to the student’s career interest area.

This is an opportunity that employers have to assist the next generation in “touching the future.  The Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee recognizes this need and stands ready to merge students with employers to touch the future.
