Legislative Update Seminar
The Mitchell Baker Employer Committee and the Department of Labor hosted a Legislative Update Seminar on October 6, 2011 with Representative Jay Powell as the guest speaker. Rotary Club of Pelham Welcomes Mikell Fryer
On June 17, 2011, Mikell Fryer, District 1 Director of the Georgia Department of Labor speaks to the Rotary Club of Pelham, Georgia. He presented information regarding new directions of the department under leadership of our new commissioner Mark Butler and information on the updated bills that were passed by the Georgia General Assembly. ![]()
MITCHELL-BAKER TEEN MAZE 2011
On May 5, 2011, Jessica Jennings, Teen Maze Coordinator and Employer Committee Member coordinated its 3rd Annual “Don’t Get Caught Up!” teen maze. The Teen Maze is a life-sized interactive game that allows students to advance through by the luck of the cards they drew. ![]()
Baker County’s 3rd Annual East Baker Extravaganza
On April 30, 2011, Mr. David Milliner, Mitchell-Baker Employer Committee member & East Baker Commercial Kitchen Manager, coordinated Baker County’s 3rd Annual East Baker Extravaganza. This event hosted a health fair, cooking contests, children’s play area, face painting, free give-a-ways which more than 500 packages of free commodities from the 2nd Harvest Food Bank were distributed. ![]()
Mitchell-Baker EC focuses on Economic Development
On April 19, 2011, Sandra Clayton introduced guest speaker, Gary Pitts, VP of Economic Development with Southwest Georgia Technical College. He explained that the Georgia Work Ready program was executed in 2007 by former Governor Sonny Perdue and the purpose of the program is to promote and improve the Georgia Workforce. As a support to the former governor’s vision, the present Governor Nathan Deal has continued to endorse the program and continued to implement it statewide as a work readiness credential.

AIMTrac groundbreaking ceremony
On February 9, 2011, employers of Mitchell County attended AIMTrac groundbreaking ceremony. The event introduced the extension of the company’s new facility that will total 26,000 sq feet. Within this new facility will include a parts distribution warehouse, extensive service areas capable of handling all brands of equipment, an indoor equipment showroom, allowing customers full access to experience new machines, as well as a training facility for AIMTrac staff. ![]()
Correcting Performance Problems through Proper Documentation
On January 19, 2011, Wanda Autrey, Vice President & Corporate Human Resource Manager with Ameris Bank in Moultrie conducted a lunch and learn seminar to local employers of Mitchell-Baker Counties on correcting performance problems through proper documentation. Wanda explained to group that by documenting everything and being consistent is a great way to protect their companies. ![]()
