LF: - Lori Folsom, Tift Regional Medical Center Personnel Director, Tiftarea Employer Committee, Tifton Career CenterWhat types of businesses or organizations make up your Employer Committee?
LF: - Retail, Hospital, Technical Schools, Local College, Carpet,Manufacturing, Hospitality such as Stafford Foods, Schwans, Chamber ofCommerce,What do you believe is unique about your Employer Committee?
LF: - Our committee has the support from our members and community, but also from other local committees such as the Education committee and the Chamber. These relationships allow our committee to be strong and receive support throughout the community through programs such as job fairs, etc.What do you believe is your Employer Committee's biggest challenge for your area, regarding the workforce?
LF: - One of our biggest challenges is being able to refocus the shift from manufacturing to other areas. Some of our biggest businesses are closing and/or moving out of the country leaving a workforce that only knows the skills they have utilized for years in industry.Why should I join your Employer Committee?
LF: - Because our committee is active in the communities it serves. This provides businesses and their employees with a stable workforce.How active is your Employer Committee working in your community?
LF: - Our committee is active not only in Tifton but surrounding counties. Our aim is to educate students, businesses and schools of the resources available to the citizens of this area. The committee also helps people in need through Thanksgiving baskets, Adopt a Family for Christmas, and support ofthe local abuse shelter.Has your Employer Committee received any awards or special recognition?
LF: - 2006 Employer Committee of the Year award.What future trends does your Employer Committee see in employment needs in your area?
LF: - Our Hispanic population will increase as well as an aging workforce thatwill have special needs.Lori Folsom
