JOBS FOR GEORGIA GRADUATES 21ST ANNUAL STATE CAREER ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

The Jobs for Georgia Graduates 21st Annual State Career Association Conference was held on March 4, 2008 at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia. Approximately 650 seniors representing 25 high schools from throughout the state were in attendance. The conference included an Opening Session, College/Career Fair and Life Skills Workshops.

The College/Career Fair was quite successful in not only providing on-site admission to our students but several students were awarded scholarships. Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina awarded $190,000 in scholarship awards and Fort Valley State University Awarded the Presidential Scholarship in the amount of $75,000 to John Crunk from North Springs Charter High School.

Martha Zoller was the luncheon keynote speaker. Ms. Zoller is a radio and television talk show host. Her message to the students emphasized the need to work hard and take full advantage of the opportunities that come your way.

We were entertained by the renowned Dougherty Comprehensive High School Performing Arts Choral. The choral performed two selections which included, “We Shall Overcome” and “Love Train”. The luncheon concluded with the presentation of state competition award winners.

Mr. Wayne Mack served as the awards presenter.
