2008 Georgia Employer Committee Mid Year Meeting Re-Cap
From the beginning to the end, the 2008 Georgia Employer Committee Mid Year Meeting was far more than anyone anticipated.
Attendees were enlightened and trained during various sessions that focused on “Building Generational Leadership.” These sessions detailed the dynamics of dealing with the 4 Generations in today’s Workforce. (This is the first time in U.S. history that we have 4 Generations in the Workplace.)
The sessions were facilitated by the energizing and talented members of the Georgia Department of Labor’s Office of Staff Development and Training. Speakers and facilitators included, Ashley Howard, Althea Barnette and Michelle Slatter. Ashley, Althea and Michelle kept the 178 attendees completely enthralled all day with their positive and interactive personalities. Not only did they educate the group about the differing personalities of the 4 Generations, they also explained how to apply the Generational training that was offered in the attendee’s respective workplaces.
The second half of the day focused on Round Robin Sessions regarding training and sharing of Best Practices. These sessions were facilitated by Executive Board Members whose committees have excelled in Financing, Marketing and other topics that have enabled their committees to grow and continue to be successful. Facilitators included Jonathan Martin, Judith Carr, Lee Whetstone, Mary Kaye Ritchey and Charles Craig.
Commissioner Thurmond provided the wrap up by addressing the group and thanking them for their devotion and hard work that benefits both employers and our Georgia Department of Labor in these difficult economic times.
Numerous times attendees commented that “This was the Best Mid Year Meeting Ever!” The Georgia Employer Committee Executive Board and Coordinator Vickie Henson would like to thank Ashley, Althea and Michelle for providing us with such an excellent format and meaningful meeting. It was just what we needed to meet the meeting’s goal of Continuing the Legacy of our Georgia Employer Committees!
